NEW ARIZONA LICENSE PLATE LAW (Effective 1/1/2009)
As of January 1, 2009 there is a new restriction affecting the attachment and display of the Arizona License Plate that will affect every motorist or business with an automobile(s) truck(s) or other vehicle(s) requiring a license plate in this State.
Effective January 1st, 2009, Arizona Revised Statute (A.R.S.) 28-2354, has been amended to state the following:
"a person shall maintain each license plate so it is clearly legible and
so that the name of this state at the top of the license plate shall not
be obscured"
Many license plates are surrounded by a frame that was either provided by the dealer or purchased separately. These frames, in most cases, cover the word ARIZONA at the top of the plate. This will now be considered a violation of this revision to the statute and can result in a fine of $150.00.
MAKE CERTAIN THAT THE STATE NAME AT THE TOP OF THE PLATE IS CLEARLY VISIBLE. This is in addition to the other requirements of the statute.
