Trolley Petition

TROLLEY ROUTE EXPANSION PROJECT
OLLIE THE TROLLEY & Committee Member
PETITION TO EXPAND SCOTTSDALE TROLLEY ROUTE
SCOTTSDALE COMMUNITY TROLLEY ROUTE EXPANSION COMMITTEE

Scottsdale Shadows, together with the support of several other communities (listed below), joined by the listed merchants, is in the process of communicating with the City Transportation Department, and City Council, to expand the current Trolley route as reflected on the map depicted below. While there are three routes shown on the map, we are most interested and focusing on the expansion of PROPOSAL 3

This expansion would include a stop at the bus stop at the entrance to our community on 78th Street. Such an expansion would be of significant benefit to the thousands of residents in this part of the DownTown area, as well as provide substantial additional traffic to the merchants in the area.

The inclusion of this route would also alleviate some of the traffic congestion in our immediate area and would provide an easy means of access to the many shops and malls along the expanded route.

The Communities on board, as of the present time (February, 2010) are as follows:

                                                             Villa Monterey (1-7 & 9)
                                                             La Vilita
                                                             Laguna San Juan
                                                             El Chaparral Condos

We have received the support of the following merchants:
                                                             Safeway on Chaparral
                                                             Chaparral Suites
The Fashion Square Mall Shopping Area

We are in the process of seeking additional support from:
The Waterfront Shopping Area And Restaurants
The Downtown Scottsdale (Old Town) Merchants
                                                              The Optima Camelview Condominiums

We will keep you updated on our progress on this website and hope you agree that such Route expansion would be a win-win accomplishment for all. Please look for upcoming events related to our efforts under this menu item and also under the item (Info for Residents-Upcoming Event Flyers).

DEVELOPMENTS AS OF APRIL 26, 2010
Scottsdale Shadows and the other HOA Communities and merchants who are participants in the Scottsdale Trolley Route Expansion Committee were represented by its Chair and another member of the Committee at the Transportation Commission hearing held on Monday, April, 19, 2010. A request was made for Commission  of the proposed route "3". The problem is that the Transportation Commission has been hit with cutbacks and probably is not in a financial position to consider expansion at this time. We are however, pursuing the possibility of having a route modification that would serve the same purpose and accommodate those who reside in the area of the proposed route "3". We have submitted documentation, 860 petitions and other data to emphasize the importance of the continuation of transportation services in the area previously proposed. We will continue to petition for service to the area in which the Committee HOA's and merchants are located, and will keep you posted of any final decision that may be made in the near future. You will find below, maps with explanations of what is currently being contemplated by the Commission.
